KT&C KNC-HMS1847-iB - IP Camera Specification

This 1080p high definition (HD) square IP camera uses a wide dynamic range (WDR) to alter the image when capturing in high/low light situations making the footage better quality and H.265 video compression to produce incredible videos with smaller file sizes for easier transfers and downloads. The KNC-HMS1847-iB uses a 3.6mm fixed lens and 3DNR to analyse individual video frames and to correct those pixels which are likely representing noise.

HD Resolution Capability

HD refers to high definition or 720p/1080p resolution, 1080p is known as Full HD. This resolution is a significant step up from 480p which can be seen in the image (on the right).

The first figure (1920) refers to horizontal pixels and the second figure (1080) denotes vertical resolution. The simple difference between HD and SD images is the number of pixels contained in the image

H.265 Video Compression

The compression ratio of H.265 is almost double that of H.264 and offers significant improvements to the prediction motion. H.265 uses High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) which allows for reduced file sizes and therefore less bandwidth rather than Advanced Video Coding (AVC). Coding Tree Units, which is how H.265 processes information, can process 64x64px blocks rather than 16x16px using H.264.

Benefits of IP Cameras

IP (Internet Protocol) cameras are powered over ethernet (PoE) and offer a far superior camera image quality/resolution to that of any other camera output. IP cameras can also be more cost-effective as they often cover a much wider range than that of an analogue camera. It would need up to four low-resolution analogue cameras to cover the same recording area as a single IP camera.

Digital Image Stabilization (DIS)

Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) uses the motion detection core to stabilize the image from shaking due to external vibrations like oscillation and wind. It uses pixels outside the border of the visible frame to provide a buffer for the motion.

Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS)

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

So what is Wide Dynamic Range? When part of an image is extremely bright but another part is so dark that you can't see any details, that's dynamic range—the difference in lighting. Cameras with wide dynamic range (WDR) have special software that allows them to balance that lighting for one clear image.

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

Backlight Compensation (BLC)

Backlight Compensation (BLC) technology works by reducing the dynamic range of the entire image while retaining the overall contrast. By compensating for unbalanced in a scene, the detail is restored throughout the field of view so as to provide better visibility to identify an object of interest.

Backlight Compensation (BLC)

3D Digital Noise Reduction (3D DNR)

Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) technology is crucial for a surveillance camera. 3D-DNR works by analysing the differences between successive frames in order to adjust pixels and improve quality. 3D-DNR reduces unwanted picture noise and compensates for image distortion due to colour blending errors

3D Digital Noise Reduction (3D DNR)

True Day/Night (TDN)

True Day/Night feature can be used for precise colour reproduction. With a built-in dual filter system, known as the Infrared Cut filter Removal (ICR) mechanism, the infrared cut filter can be used at day time, or in bright lighting conditions, to provide enhanced image in full-colour. At night time, or in harsh lighting conditions, it will be removed for greater light sensitivity in monochrome mode.
