Wing Mirror Camera Kit - SVMCK Specification
On 7th of May 2019, SURE Transport introduced the 'SUREVIEW'. The SUREVIEW was bought to market after decades of drivers crying for technology innovators to eliminate the problem of heavy vehicle blind spots.
This device erases the problem of blind spots using HD cameras and internal monitors whilst driving heavy vehicles.
"London bus network reported to have had roughly 20,000 safety incidents in the past three years according to the Financial Times and a lot of these were reported to be due to complacency and restricted view.
The SUREVIEW camera/monitor is set to erase the problem of blind spots using HD cameras and internal monitors whilst driving heavy vehicles. Compact SVMCAM cameras are fitted to the sides of the bus and the monitor is located inside the vehicle with a split screened display.
How the Camera Fits
Compact SVMCAM cameras are fitted to the sides of the bus and the monitor is located inside the vehicle with a split-screened display.
The camera provides high-definition video output to give the driver a crisp picture of the surroundings of the vehicle. With monitors fitted internally, the driver doesn't need to turn their head therefore avoiding the risk of hitting passers-by.
The camera (also 720p HD output) provides 0 Lux when the IR LED is on to avoid disruption when outdoor lighting changes (tunnels or day/night cycle). The electronic shutter is completely automatic and the camera has 8 infrared LEDs attached. Finally, the camera is 144 x 88 x 119 mm and is IP67 weatherproof to avoid damage when heavy rain strikes the device.
This mirrorless camera fits externally on the vehicle to replace bulky wing-mirrors whilst driving heavy vehicles. This compact camera provides clear HD video for monitoring on the TFT-LCD screen. This camera also comes with built-in IR LEDs for viewing footage in low light conditions (night or tunnels).
IR infrared spectrum 850nm
IR Nanometers (nm)
IR wavelengths are measured in nanometers (nm) which are used to specify the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation near the visible part of the light spectrum, these wavelengths can go up to a maximum of 1050nm.
850nm will provide night vision recording over 5M away whilst still retaining image quality with most having a performance increase of over 40% compared with 940nm. The 850nm wavelength will produce a slight red glow when looking at the camera which can be mistaken for a signal or brake light and therefore not suitable for covert operations or vehicle cameras.
Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)
So what is Wide Dynamic Range? When part of an image is extremely bright but another part is so dark that you can't see any details, that's dynamic range—the difference in lighting. Cameras with wide dynamic range (WDR) have special software that allows them to balance that lighting for one clear image.
IP Rating - What is IP67?
IP or Ingress Protection ratings are international standard ratings to define the sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against dirt, moisture and foreign bodies. The first number that follows IP has a specific meaning which indicates the level of protection the equipment has to foreign bodies excluding water. The second number will identify the level of protection the product has to moisture (submersion, drips, sprays etc).
(6) Totally dust-tight. Full protection against dust and other particulates, including a vacuum seal, tested against continuous airflow.
(7) Protection against full immersion for up to 30 minutes at depths of 3 feet.
HD Resolution Capability
HD refers to high definition or 720p/1080p resolution, 1080p is known as Full HD. This resolution is a significant step up from 480p which can be seen in the image (on the right).
The first figure (1920) refers to horizontal pixels and the second figure (1080) denotes vertical resolution. The simple difference between HD and SD images is the number of pixels contained in the image

E11 Certification Vehicle Approval
The E11 Mark is the British specific Mark that covers equipment/vehicles supplied to the automotive industry. This includes commercial vehicles, construction machinery and general vehicle use and basically means the unit has been approved by ECU compliance and quality control regulations. (source)
