FLIR to supply US army tanks

US Army to implement FLIR kits on combat vehicles

Earlier this month an article was released by the ‘Army technology news page’ to announce the implementation of FLIR cameras into the US army vehicles.

The contract was awarded to
Leonardo DRS who is a supplier of air combat training systems, land electronics and naval power systems. The contract outlined that there needed to be a delivery of “second-generation forward-looking infrared (SG-FLIR) sights for combat vehicles” along with infrared sensors that support surveillance and fire control for several ground combat vehicles.

The contract was valued at $67m and the vehicles that will be supplied with this tech will include the M1A1 Abrams tank, Bradley fighting vehicles and the Stryker vehicles.
